My Project Proposal

For my final project I plan to visually portray similar patterns within nature between plants and animals. I have notice that leaves remind me of feathers, long tall grass can resemble hair and roots look similar to roots. My goal if to not fool anyone’s eyes but rather open them.

Saturday December 10th I had an opportunity to participate in the Kimball Charity Lifts show. I had an hour and a half to create a piece. I made a chandelier and received first place in the competition along with highest bid. I cannot even begin to describe how grateful I am for such an amazing opportunity. Thank you Soo Chung, Katie Snyder, and my family for their support.

Final Project Statement

My Project is about the similarities of patterns within nature among organisms. My goal was to visually convey the idea that plants and animals share similar attributes. I chose this topic based off of my newfound appreciation of surrealism. The imagination allows us conceive our own reality by asking questions like “What if things were different?”  I felt it would be a shame not act upon my ability to see things differently in a way I can share with others.

To me, these images are clues of our past. I feel that no matter how different any organism is there is still a genetic attribute that connects their past with our own. This project allowed me to essentially alter the tree of life. I hope what others gain from these images is a realization that no matter how far we separate ourselves from nature in this developing world, we are all part of something that connects us all, and no matter how much we change, all life has taken place within the last 3 percent of time. We really aren’t that different.
